BSAU 145e Compliance
HEX Number Plates are road-legal because the British Standards & Regulations have no restrictions on plate shape. Plate constructions must be BSAU 145e Certified, thus meeting the specified durability & retroreflective visibility levels. Plate sizes must allow the Registration Format and still provide sufficient space for the outer margin.

Reflectivity & Visibility
HEX Plates must meet the British Standard regarding reflectivity & visibility. Certification tests check the background is retroreflective & the printed areas are non-reflective for contrast.
Weathering Resistance
Number plates undergo simulated weathering tests in a laboratory to assess durability. After 2275 hours of exposure to UV light and water spray, the plate edges are examined for delamination.
Colourimetry & Photometrics
The British Standard specifies a number plates background & character colours. Our HEX Plates, 3D & GEL Digits performance are checked both before and after 2275 hours of weathering tests.
Abrasion Resistance
Plate durability is also tested by evaluating resistance to wear and tear. After 6,000 strokes of a 1kg weight and cotton cloth, a plate samples durability is tested and measured.
