Tennants Enviro-Plate is the most efficient number plate on the market. It not only reduces annual expenditure but also brings recyclable sustainability. The cost savings come from switching to printed film instead of dry-reflective. It is also eco-friendly, made using 90% recycled ABS, saving 0.58kg of CO2 per plate. By using recycled ABS backings, Enviro-Plate has an estimated material footprint of 0.31kg of CO2 per plate, compared to 0.89kg for virgin plastic and 1.32kg for recycled aluminium plates.
Enviro-Plate Number Plates
At Tennants, we have long championed Film & Plate as an affordable and sustainable number plate solution. Printing onto film is a low-cost and efficient alternative to reflective sheets. Our reflective backings utilise recycled ABS because it has a lower footprint than aluminium plates. Fully compliant, Enviro-Plate exceeds the retroreflective and durability levels required by the British Standard.
With just two components, it takes seconds to assemble with a reverse-printed film laminated onto a rigid backing. Compatible with both True 3D & GEL Digits, and boasting a utility that covers oblong, motorcycle, oversized, short & hex plates. Pre-printed corporate branding options include colour logos, advertising lips & forecourt plates.

The standout advantages of using Enviro-Plate for any business are its efficiency and affordability. By prioritising efficiency, our number plate achieves a balanced focus on quality, durability, cost, and compliance. All number plate specifications have to comply with British Standards. However, to be competitive, Enviro-Plate is also optimised to be cost-efficient and quick to make.
Printing onto film helps Enviro-Plate to be efficient and reduce annual expenditure. Film is a fraction of the price of reflective sheets, so every number plate costs less. Expensive user errors from waste & misprinted registrations are therefore significantly reduced. A leading and prominent automotive procurement platform calculated that Enviro-Plate saved their clients more than 25% yearly than competing products.
Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Number Plates
Enviro-Plate is sustainable because it uses 90% recycled materials for its backings, which are also recyclable at the end of their life. Our polyester film also plays its part, being low-cost and as durable as reflective sheets. Utilising recycled ABS and Polyester film reduces the carbon footprint of Enviro-Plate favourably compared to plastic & aluminium number plates. 90% Recycled Backings
Our backing plates consist of 90% Recycled ABS from Scotland, topped off with an Oralite Reflective face. ABS is repeatedly recyclable, so utilising ABS for our plates increases their sustainability. This growth results from ABS recycling processes being less energy-intensive and not requiring new resources. In addition, ABS is an efficient & impact-resistant substrate perfect for number plates.
A Greener Footprint
Applying the best data we currently hold, we estimate Enviro-Plate* has a footprint of just 0.31kg of CO2 per number plate. This value refers to the combined respective material footprints for a standard 0.24kg plate. Our recycled ABS backings hold an equivalent of 0.20kg of CO2 each, much lower than standard plastic or recycled aluminium plates. Despite being a synthetic petrochemical plastic, our Polyester Film has a carbon footprint of just 0.11kg CO2 per sheet. We estimate each Enviro-Plate saves 0.58kg of CO2 by using recycled materials.

Standards Compliant
Enviro-Plate uses printed film sheets laminated above a 3mm reflective plate. The Enviro-Plate specification is covered by BSAU 145e certification, updated in 2024, showcasing our commitment to compliance. BSAU 145e accreditation requires a sample to pass multiple durability and visibility tests, including weather, chemical & abrasion resistance. Restating that BNMA Members like Tennants offer clients superior products & services.
Assembly Guide
Being a 2-Part construction, Enviro-Plate takes seconds to assemble. The video provided here shows a Quick Assembly Guide using a roller jig.
For optimum results, we recommend folding back 3 inches of the plate’s adhesive cover & joining the film to the exposed adhesive. When rolling, keep the film taut for the first turn, and then swap to hold the adhesive cover. Pull off the remaining cover as the components go through the soft rollers.
Polyester Film
Our Clear Film is a 0.2mm thick polyester sheet with exceptional optical clarity. Designed to be durable with high-tensile strength, it is UV stable for colour fastness. An ink-receptive coating provides better toner bonding, so either side is printable. All these features combine to make it an ideal print media that passes all durability & visibility testing.
LG EnviroPlate
LG EnviroPlate backings are fabricated by mounting Oralite Reflective onto recycled ABS panels. Oralite is perfect for the reflective face, being retroreflective, UV stable & fade resistant. Using Oralite ensures the legally required colour and reflectivity levels for its entire lifecycle. Each backing plate has a high-tack adhesive coating protected by a quick-release cover.
