We understand if you’re getting confused with the steady flow of additional information regarding GB Side Badges and do sympathise. So here’s some more.
Number Plate or Sticker?
A recent DVLA announcement has confounded all our expectations by confirming that in most EU countries, displaying the GB Text with the Union Flag (see above) on your number plate, there is no requirement for a separate GB Oval sticker. There are a few exceptions to this; namely Spain, Cyprus and Malta in which travel will still require an oval sticker. All other legal options of side badge design will still need the separate GB sticker – source: The BNMA.
Clear? Phew; you’ve got to be on the ball to keep up with developments in the number plate industry, these days, so Trust Tennants to be your first source for news. Check out the DVLA website for more information.
September 2021 Update: A new overseas badge range has replaced the GB text and Union Flag badge. This means all vehicles must display a Oval UK Sticker when driven abroad except those with the design. And talking of Sticker with Us – the GB identifier on oval stickers has been replaced by UK.
